GPS continues to to focus on on customers in in an an ever-changing market Richard and and Evelyn Amaro founded General Plumbing Supply with with with a a a a a a a a a commitment of going the the the extra mile to to care for for its customers with with with the the the the the products products and and service service they they need Starting with with with one location in in in in Walnut Creek Calif in in in in the the the the early 1960s they they distributed plumbing products products for for service service repair and construction Over the the the the the years GPS GPS added electrical to to the the the the the product mix and and have expanded to to now having eleven locations throughout California In the the the the the the mid-1980s GPS GPS opened their their rst showroom at at at their their Walnut Creek headquarters and since then have added ve ve more — including one that will open open next month in San Francisco Kate Brady the the GPS Director of Showrooms got got into the the business by accident After studying interior design design In college she she got got her her rst job as a a a a a a a a a a a kitchen & bath designer But a a a a a a a a a a a very long commute led Kate to to begin looking for other opportunities and she she took a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a position with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a friend who who ran ran Purves Supply a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a small wholesaling company in in in in in San Francisco Although there wasn’t a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a showroom Brady’s friend Elizabeth Rodes had had a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a background in in in in older xtures and and had had built a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a reputation with builders and and designers in in the Bay Area who wanted to create an an an an an antique look Kate discovered that she she she really enjoyed the the the work and and they began building a a a a a a a a a a a small showroom business business she she she credits Elizabeth as as one of her her biggest mentors and and the the the the reason she she she found her her niche in in in the showroom business business
